In order to inform our Local Development Framework, we are required to prepare a Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA). The main purpose of the SHLAA is essentially to come to an informed view on the amount of potential housing land that is available in Gloucester.
We previously published and consulted on a scoping report for the Gloucester SHLAA in April 2007 including a proposed methodology based on draft guidance available at that time. However, in July 2007, the Department of Communities and Local Government published revised guidance on the preparation of SHLAAs. More recently in March 2008, a decision 'in principle' was taken to prepare a Joint Core Strategy with Cheltenham and Tewkesbury as part of the Local Development Framework and there is a need to ensure a consistency of approach.
As such, we prepared a revised SHLAA methodology and invited potential housing sites to be put forward by stakeholders for consideration through the SHLAA process. The consultation closed 4 July 2008, and sites are currently being considered by Planning Officers.
More information will be available on this page shortly.
